I’ve painted my first mural: The Sun Machine II

I’ve painted my first mural! — on the 3rd floor of kulturhuset KU.BE in Frederiksberg (by Flintholm St).

It was created entirely with leftover paint found in KU.BEs basement, and the whole process was 100% learning by doing + “I really hope this works” + a somewhat Storm P–like initial phase involving homemade contraptions made from string and tape (also found here and there around KU.BE) to sketch out the circular shapes in pencil. Fun.

Other than that, the technique was very similar to how I work on canvas with acrylic paint. Just bigger, and with far fewer details, because I needed to keep the hours down to a good handful. And I did!

(That’s a pretty big deal for me, considering I can easily spend 86 hours on a single painting.)

Painting a mural was a big bucket-list item for me, so yeiiiiii!

I have been thinking about the piece as The Sun Machine all the way through, but since I already have a work with that title (from 2016), I’m trying to find another title for it. Currently, it’s The Sun Machine II.
